Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take for a child to settle?
This will depend on a number of factors including the age of the child, how many sessions the child attends for, and the individaul character of the child. Typically, a very young baby settles in very easily, much more quickly than say a child of 13 months whose ties to their home environment are much stronger. Additionally, having spent time with another relative or carer also makes settling in much easier. Obviously, the regularity of a child's attendance is also a determinate factor. If a child attends full time, they will establish themselves in the nursery environement and feel comfortable there much more quickly than a child who attends only 2 afternoons a week. And of course, some children just have more natural confidence than others and will settle more quickly as a result. However, it is rare for a child not to settle but patience is required and a lot of tlc.
How long will I be on the waiting list for?
There is no set time as often it depends upon the possibility of another child leaving or changing their sessions which frees up a place. In the instance of a young baby, however, we can normally predict future places as these are made available as children move up through the age groups. Keep in regular contact with the nursery as to future progress of any movement.
What happens to my deposit if I decide not to start?
The deposit is non refundable unless a full month's notice is given prior to the start date in which case we have the opportunity to offer the place to another child.
What is the registration fee for?
Joining a nursery requires a lot of administration in time spent setting up web cam registrations, child records and of course time spent with parents obtaining details of their child in terms of dietary requirements, medical details, likes, dislikes etc. Additionally, the settling in process requires around 3 visits where you will spend one on one time with a member of staff getting to know each other and with your child. These sessions are not charged for but the registration fee goes some way to covering the costs of these sessions throughout the nursery.
