Sports

With childhood obesity, the lack of sports programmes in schools and probably some of the unhealthiest children in England for decades, it is one of our primary concerns at Active learning that health and vitality in our children is at the forefront of our agenda.

We also have a dedicated sports coordinator who ensures the ongoing development of this programme and who liaises closely with other specialists in a variety of sporting fields who work with us.

Sport is one of the most important aspects of school life and a healthy enjoyment of active pursuits needs to be cultivated at the very earliest age. Children naturally love outdoor activities and at Active learning, we do our best to capture this natural exuberance and introduce our children to a large range of sports and early sporting skills. At some of our nurseries, we are fortunate to have large grounds and children play football, tennis, cricket as well as team games, and athletics. In our central London nurseries where space is not always as accessible, we still believe that it is a children’s right to such activities and therefore will ensure that children gain outdoor exercise through parks and partnerships with other centres. However, our indoor studios do allow us to bring the outside in and offer indoor P.E, basketball, gymnastics as well as the dance programmes and all of our nurseries have external adventure playgrounds and a race track where children can use the bikes, cars etc.

Annually, we also hold a sports day in which the children compete in a variety of races and where we are joined by the parents for a lovely family barbeque.
